The annual capacity of the Ukrainian gas transit system is 146 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which allows Ukraine to transport almost twice as much gas as the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines combined because they do not can pump only 55 billion cubic meters of gas. gas per year, according to Serhiy Makohon, general manager of the operator of the gas transport network of Ukraine (GTSOU).

Makohon recalled that the Ukrainian gas transport operator operates in accordance with the standards of the third energy package of the EU, respecting the principles of energy solidarity.
Russian gas monopoly Gazprom announced on September 10 the completion of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. It was built from Russia to Germany bypassing Ukraine at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Gazprom is the sole shareholder of the project.
At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelensky set up a working group to develop proposals to minimize threats from the construction of gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine.
