Sacramento Regional Transit announces service disruptions

Sacramento Regional Transit says several streets in downtown Sacramento will be closed due to the Ironman California triathlon on October 24.

SACRAMENTO, Calif .– The California Ironman Triathlon takes place on Sunday October 24 and before the big day, Sacramento Regional Transit announces that service to downtown Sacramento will be disrupted.

SacRT said on social media on Saturday that several downtown streets would be closed. Service on the Blue and Gold lines of the light rail and several bus lines “will not serve downtown stations / stops from midday until the end of service.”

According to a SacRT press release of October 14, due to the closures, special shuttles will take passengers between some stations in the city center, but will only have selected stops in the city center.

Here are the details of the light rail stations that should be closed:

  • Golden line:
    • Sacramento Valley Station
    • 7th and I / County Center
    • 8th and H / County Center
    • 8th & K
    • 7th & Capitol
    • 8th & Capitol
    • 8th & O
    • Archives Square
  • Blue line:
    • the 12th and me
    • 11th and K
    • 10th and K
    • 9th & K
    • 7th & Capitol
    • 8th & Captain
    • 8th & O
    • Archives Square

SacRT also announced in the release that there will be free rides offered on October 24 to and from downtown events, including Ironman and the Sacramento Kings game against the Golden State Warriors. To get a free pass to ride, click HERE.
