WEST PALM BEACH, Fla .– The Palm Beach County School District is stepping up recruitments just three weeks before the start of the new school year.

There will be a School Foodservice Career Fair today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Seminole Ridge High School cafeteria at 4601 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road in Loxahatchee.

The district is looking to fill part-time Food Service Assistant positions across the county.

Most positions include a fixed schedule of 20 to 25 hours per week with a five-hour work day, which ends at 2 p.m. Executives say it gives employees the opportunity to go to college, take a second job or spend time with their families.

The starting salary is $ 12 an hour. The positions offer an opportunity for advancement through training and promotion from within.

The district says successful applicants will be paid up to 80 hours during training. The minimum requirements for the school bus driver position are as follows:

  • Have a good driving record with no more than two traffic violations in any 18 month period, and no more than one traffic violation per year in the past three years.
