Maersk increases its warehousing capacities in the UK and Ireland

Liverpool/Dublin – As part of its integration strategy, Maersk is constantly expanding its inventory of warehouses in the UK and Ireland. In addition to a 15-year lease for a newly built warehouse in Doncaster in northern England, Maersk has signed a lease for two new distribution centers in Ireland’s capital Dublin. All facilities focus heavily on their operations by creating low CO2 emissions.

The Doncaster facility is part of the G Park Doncaster Mammoth 602 development and is well connected by road (close to five motorways), rail (Doncaster International Railport) and air (Robin Hood Airport). With over 600,000 square feet of total space, 60 dock levellers, 20m of internal headroom plus several hundred parking and office spaces, the warehouse is one of the largest in the UK. It also ranks among the most sustainable logistics buildings in the North of England. Developer GLP built the facility on a net-zero carbon build program (as part of UKGBC). In addition to the Doncaster warehouse, Maersk’s portfolio includes two further UK distribution centers in Tamworth and Kettering.

These three new warehouses in the UK and Ireland are a clear signal that we are ready to deliver on our integrator promise to our customers and provide them with end-to-end logistics solutions from the factory to their end consumers if they wish. The demand for integrated and therefore more resilient supply chains has increased significantly over the past two years. The disruptions of Brexit and the pandemic have taken logistics from commodity level to a C-level topic – where it really belongs.

As the decarbonization of sea, air and land logistics by 2040 is an integral part of Maersk’s strategy, we are pleased to partner with two very capable developers who are helping us achieve this ambitious land logistics goal.

Following the successful acquisition of warehousing specialist LF Logistics in Asia, Maersk now offers its customers integrated logistics solutions in more than 550 warehouses with a total global space of approximately 9.5 million m². Several additional Maersk warehouses are expected to enter into service in Europe in the coming months.

As a logistics integrator, Maersk develops and delivers solutions ranging from sea to land and air transport, contract logistics including warehousing and distribution (W&D) and depots, customs clearance, visibility solutions and more. When supply chains were impacted due to the disruptions caused by the pandemic, Maersk’s resilient end-to-end solutions ensured continuity in the movement of customers’ goods. Integrated solutions allow Maersk to have better control over the movement of cargo at multiple stages of its journey and thus bring resilience to supply chains. With the expansion of W&D’s facilities, Maersk further strengthens its position by offering a greater range of one-stop services to its customers.
