LAGUNA BEACH, CA —Bring everything except your surfboard. Laguna Beach Local, a new on-demand local transit service, has arrived in Laguna Beach.
Restaurants, retailers, government departments, local businesses, retailers and more can all participate in the ride request service for up to 7 passengers, depending on the city.
“Local Laguna Beach service is available along the former Top to the World, Bluebird Canyon and Arch Beach Heights tram routes, and through downtown,” a city spokesperson said. You will recognize the car when you see it, as city vehicles are clearly marked with the Laguna Beach Local logo.
Your vehicle will be assigned to you through the app and you will be able to see how far your ride is while you wait for transport. Be aware that you may be asked to “walk” to where other local passengers are waiting for rides, the city says. This is a “carpooling service”.
Your drivers will be professionals, depending on the city, and are employed by LAZ Parking. All have undergone security training.
If you need wheelchair accessibility, be sure to request it in advance by tapping on the wheelchair icon.
You can use the QR code, phone, or website to call a carpool. If you choose to be picked up as soon as possible, the average wait time can be 15-20 minutes, depending on the city.
The ride is free and city drivers cannot tip, but a warm “thank you” is always welcome.
