Colorado Impaired Drivers Can Access $ 15 Trip Credit to Get Home Safe

DENVER (KDVR) – The Colorado Department of Transportation and Uber are offering a $ 15 ride credit to ensure safe rides from December 1 to January 3 with the “Ultimate Party Host” campaign.

“Holidays are made to celebrate. We want the people of Colorado to enjoy these special moments without worrying about how they will get home safely, ”said Darrell Lingk, director of CDOT’s office of traffic safety. “Whether it’s a sober friend, a carpooling service, or public transport, there are plenty of options for planning ahead and securing a sober trip.”

The “Ultimate Party Host” campaign offers people organizing holiday parties a free Uber credit for their guests.

Look for the $ 15 trip credit in the promotions section of the Uber app, use the code “HOLIDAYSAFE”. Credits can be redeemed from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Credit must be applied directly from a mobile device to the Uber app.

Ride credits are available while supplies last and are limited to one use per person.

Colorado has $ 10,000 in travel credits from the Governor’s Highway Safety Administration campaign, which is part of a grant received by CDOT to reduce impaired driving.

Colorado recorded 220 impaired driving-related deaths in 2021. More than 20,000 people are arrested for impaired driving in Colorado each year, an average of 54 arrests per day, according to the CDOT.

“There are already too many families who will have empty chairs at the table this holiday season because of the pandemic,” said GHSA executive director Jonathan Adkins.
