The dredging of the Brahmaputra is a major initiative to make the river suitable for the smooth transport of passenger and freight ships. Work has already started in this regard. The minister also insisted on the need to develop other major rivers in the region so that all the northeastern states can benefit from the development of waterways. Entrepreneurs from the North East will be able to transport their goods using these waterways to reach the Port of Haldia in West Bengal via Bangladesh to access the international market, especially the South East Asia region. The government’s Act East policy will further propel and create an enabling environment for prosperous trade in the northeast region, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said.

He informed that the Ministry of AYUSH works in close coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and strives to maximize the effectiveness of drugs by complementing each other. He urged to follow the guidelines issued by the AYUSH ministry to stay safe from Covid infection.
He said the time-tested AYUSH systems feature many evidence-based interventions for the management and treatment of Covid-19. Therefore, he suggested that people with mild to moderate Covid infections who are isolated at home could take AYUSH -64 or Kabasura Kudineer in consultation with qualified doctors.
